Sovereign Capability

Our commitment to Australian Industry Capability (AIC)

ADA has a long-term strategy for Australian industry involvement in defence capability projects and sustainment activities. Our AIC strategy aims to create mutually beneficial partnerships with Australian companies that will lead to lasting success.

We are committed to encouraging strong, long-term partnerships between the Commonwealth, defence primes and local industry; collaboration between these three entities will help maximise mutually beneficial outcomes for our nation’s security and progress.

ADA has provided trusted solutions to the Australian Defence Force for over 100 years. We are committed to supporting the vision of an AIC program to help Australia reach its goals of building sovereign capability. Our team is dedicated to enabling local industry to grow and prosper, with a policy of working with indigenous, veteran-owned suppliers and subcontractors and sharing our industry expertise with partners for mutual benefit. Through this commitment, we seek to create more intelligent solutions that strengthen Australia’s sovereign defence capability.

Local Supply Partners

For more than 100 years, ADA has been passionate about connecting and strengthening the Australian industry. We currently have over 475 local companies in our supply chain and are always looking for new opportunities to collaborate with businesses that can offer products and services to support our programs in the defence and first-responder sectors. Our strategy of driving Australian Industry Content has allowed us to develop the skills, knowledge and resilience within our teams both domestically and globally, contributing to an ever-growing sovereign capability in Australia.

Australian Academic Partnerships

We are committed to collaborating with universities throughout Australia, such as Bond University, to create long-term strategic partnerships for research projects. We strive to develop innovative solutions and cutting-edge technologies through joint efforts and collective knowledge. Our research initiatives have the potential to shape the future of Australia as well as set a benchmark for global excellence in research and development.

Indigenous Procurement

Our procurement strategies are geared towards helping our customers, the government, and the wider community gain value from their operational and investment spend. To achieve this, we strive to foster meaningful relationships with Indigenous enterprises by partnering with Supply Nation. Through this collaboration, we can create opportunities for Indigenous Australians while providing services and products that add value to our supply chain. Australian Manufacturing

Our dedicated uniform manufacturing facility, spanning over 5000 square meters in Bendigo, is home to a complete manufacturing chain. We incorporate the highest quality technology, knowledge and experience in the industry, ensuring the production of exceptional apparel. As the largest supplier of locally made apparel supporting the ADF, the ongoing onshore manufacturing of standard combat uniforms is integral to our operations. We aim to maximise sovereign capability to provide a transformative and scalable clothing management solution for years to come.

In-House Resources

At ADA, we support our communities by hiring locally employed staff for our Design, R&D, IT, and logistics departments. By investing in local talent and expertise, we are able to provide high-quality services and products while fostering economic growth and sustainability in the regions where we operate.

Supporting local jobs not only benefits the community but also leads to increased employee engagement, loyalty, and productivity. It also allows us to better understand and respond to the unique needs and challenges of our local markets, ultimately resulting in more effective and efficient business operations.

Leading the way

ADA’s commitment to local industry capability is fostered by appointing a dedicated Australian Industry Capability Manager, David Frith. David’s role is to oversee the strategic priorities in engaging suppliers and industry networks within the Australian market. The role focuses on leading ADA’s engagement with Australian Industry partners to identify growth opportunities for participating industries through ADA’s current and future activities.

David has over 30 years of experience in Defence, including 22 years as an officer in the Royal Australian Navy, where he saw active service in Somalia. Over this time, David gained extensive experience in procurement and contracting in both CASG and JLC, where he worked closely with a range of Defence industry partners. Many of his roles were responsible for providing direct support to the ADF’s raise, train and sustainment functions and operations through delivering equipment and services within Australia and to ADF elements deployed overseas on operations in Timor Leste and the Middle East.

“I am excited about this opportunity to deliver innovative solutions for apparel systems built for our clients. This can only be achieved through leveraging ADA’s current Australian Industry supply chain to expand these arrangements to a range of other Australian suppliers. We look forward to engaging with industry to harness their knowledge and experience to offer customers the best value for commercial solutions to meet their future requirements.” says David.
